PRELIMINARY DESIGN |
The project involves the recovery of public spaces in the historic center of Norma (Latina) and the rehabilitation of the paths starting from the early medieval nucleus perched on the top of the cliff and descending downstream along the tracks of rock shelters.
The work on the first area, corresponding to the oldest fortified settlement, chooses to remain silent and respectful as possible without sacrificing the design of contemporary: neutral colors, white, dark gray and few long-limbed deciduous trees, to better adjust to the seasons the light and the heat in the small squares of the medieval center. The spaces of the ancient castle are sewn up through the design of water, two thin canals, running along different levels, retrace the perimeter of the first settlement. A walkway over the cliff, partly carved into the rock, partly cantilevered, redesigns an ideal wall-walk along the boundary of the ancient settlement.
